BRUREE NOTES 27/9/2009

APPEAL

We appeal to dog owners to keep their pets out of the grounds of Bruree National School. With over one hundred children aged from five to twelve at the school, dog owners are putting the health of these children at risk by allowing their dogs onto the school grounds. Dogs will do what dogs will do but, as well as the mess this makes when children walk in (or worse) the result, dog poo also poses a health risk. Please co-operate.

BRUREE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

Bruree Parent and Toddler Group continue every Tuesday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon in Bruree National School. It is open to everyone looking after pre school children and we would be delighted to welcome you to the group. For further information please contact Judy on 087 6256906 or 063 90468.

GAA

Under 14 Football: Our Under 14 footballers won the County Shield in an exciting game at Neville Park, Rathkeale. Fedamore provided the opposition and though Bruree got off to a slow start, they quickly took control of the game. Bruree led by 3-2 to 1-0 at the break with Brendan Murphy, Eamon Lyons and Darren Kelly finding the Fedamore net and Brendan Murphy and Johnny Harris adding the brace of points. The second half continued in the same vein with Aaron Fitzgerald, Darren Kelly, Brendan Murphy and Johnny Harris all finding the net. Cian McCarthy and Shane Feane were both on target for a point each to leave the final score Bruree 7-4 Fedamore 2-0. This was a great performance from Bruree with the defenders allowing Fedamore few chances at scores and our forwards making the most of the scoring opportunities. The Shield was presented to Bruree captain, James Kelleher. The Bruree team was James Kelleher, T.J. Mullane, Ronan O’Halloran, Patrick Carey, Cian McCarthy, Shane Feane, Brendan Murphy, Eamon Lyons, Johnny Harris, Darren Kelly, Aaron Fitzgerald, Rory O’Shaughnessy, Thomas O’Dwyer, William Howard.
