BRUREE NOTES 24/1/2010

GAA

Social: The Bruree GAA Annual Social will be held at Bulgaden Castle on Saturday, February 6th starting at 8.00 pm. Music will be provided by Terminal 11 and we hope that everyone will make the effort to attend to celebrate another successful year for the club. Tickets at just €30 each are available from local businesses or from Noel O’halloran or Johnny Wall. Please purchase yours as early as possible.

Membership: The annual membership subscription is now due and should be paid to Kit O’Halloran immediately. The membership fee for 2010 is €20 for adults. Any player will not be allowed participate in training or play in games until such time as they have paid their membership fee.

SYMPATHY

We extend our sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Patrick Walsh, Ballysally, Jimmy O’Carroll, Granagh, Jenny McCarthy, Meanus, Mai Butler, Milford, Nellie Ellard, Buttevant, Charlie Culhane, Garrienderk, John Shanahan, England, and Sean O’Sullivan, Feenagh, who died recently.

THE FIELD

Granagh Players present The Field by John B. Keane in the Community Centre, Granagh, on Sunday, 29th, 30th and 31st January at 8.00pm each night. A great night’s entertainment is assured from this accomplished group.

SAD NEWS

Two of the most popular residents of Beech Lodge Care Facility, Bruree passed away recently. John Madden lived at Beech Lodge for the past five years and staff and fellow residents were greatly saddened on January 7 last when he passed away. John formerly lived at Gurrane, Charleville and lived to the ripe age of 83. May he rest in peace. In further sad news, another resident Sean O’Sullivan of Beech Lodge Nursing Home and formerly of Cloncrippa House, Feenagh and Dooradoyle, Limerick passed away on January 16 last. He was 81. He will be greatly missed by all at the nursing home. Cards may be sent to families homes. May they rest in peace.

45 DRIVE

Winners of the 45 Drive last week with eleven games were Anne Potter/Josephine Lynch and Noreen Hayes. Runners up with eight games were John and Marie Healy and Sean Blake and Katherine O’Regan. Raffle prizes went to Patsy Healy, Mary Noonan, John Moloney and Anne Frawley. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

ST. PATRICK’S NATIONAL SCHOOL

Art: Some of the local school pupils had great success in the Kilmallock Credit Union area art competition. Aine Hayden was first in the seven and under category while Matthew Howard was second. Rachel Williams was first in the 8-10 years category and Ciara Mullane was second. Seamus Lyons was second in the 11-13 years age group. Aine Hayden’s and Rachel Williams’ posters were then entered in the Munster competition where Rachel finished second. The children were presented with their prizes by members of Kilmallock Credit Union committee.

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 Conor Shanahan, Dromin €25 Kit O’Halloran, John Hallinan €20 Patricia Langan, c/o Nora Power, Liam Quain, Charleville, Donal McCarthy.
