Bruree Notes 3/7/2011

Defibrillators

The Rockhill Bruree Defibrillator Group will hold a Golf Classic at Charleville Golf Club on Saturday, July 16th. The entry fee is €90 for a team of three. To enter a team or for any other details contact John at 087-2701771. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Juvenile GAA

Under 14: The Under 14 hurlers beat Shamrock Gaels in a match played in Bruree. Most prominent for Bruree on the night were Sean Quirke, Aaron Fitzgerald, Gearoid McCarthy and Cian McCarthy who was outstanding at fullback.
The Under 14 footballers had a very decisive win over Knockaderry in Bruree. Our lads dominated throughout the field and were rarely under any pressure. Terence Galvin-Buckley was in sparkling form in mid-field and gave a great display of catching and kicking. Others to shine on the night were Dara O’Driscoll,Aaron Fitzgerald, Gearoid McCarthy and Jack Murphy who showed great promise when introduced for the second half.
Summer Cul Camp: The Cul Camp is on this week and we hope that all those taking part have a great week.

45 Drive

Winners of last week’s 45 Drive were Mary Margaret Noonan and Nora Mai Donworth and Anne Frawley and John Sheehan with nine games. Raffle prizes went to Evelyn Byrnes, John Sheehan, Anne Frawley and John Sheehan. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

Activity Summer Camp

An activity summer camp will take place in Bruree from July 11th to July 15th, starting at 10.00 am each morning and finishing at 2.30 pm. Activities will include arts and crafts, indoor games and activities, and outdoor sports and games. The camp is open to children aged from 5 to 12 years (school going) and children will be placed in groups of similar age. The cost is €65 per child with a €15 deposit and the balance of €50 due on/before July 11th.For further information contact Laura Leslie (087-7744028)

The collectors for the recent Irish Heart Foundation Church gate collection would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously. The total amount collected was €770.

Community Games

Congratulations to all the children who competed in the county athletics finals in Mungret. Laura Frawley won the Under 8 80m and so will represent her area and county at the National Finals in Athlone in August. Elaine Frawley was fourth in the same race and also got a medal. Sean Quirke came second in the Under 12 Long Puck and was unlucky not to win it with a puck of over 76 metres. Cian McCarthy finished fourth in the High Jump. Gavin Cotter got to the final of the boys Under 8 80m and finished fifth. The girls Under 12 relay team also got to the final and they were Katie Quirke, Kiara McCarthy, Megan O’Grady and Kate Frawley. Others who competed and did their best were Robert Lynch, Lorna Murphy, Matthew Howard, Frankie Barrington, Amy Fitzgerald and Jack Murphy. Ciara Daly got to the final of the Long Puck and Brian McCarthy also got to the final. Cathal Barrington, Alison Fitzgerald and Ciara Mullane also did their best in the Long Puck competition. The Under 5 and Under 7 runners took part in the fun run and all got medals. They were Rebecca Lynch, Michael FrawleyColm McCarthy and Conor Frawley. Thanks to all the parents and everyone who travelled to Mungret over the weekend.
