Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of John Joe Dunworth, Ballyagran, who died recently.

Ducks and More Ducks!

The water levels in the river Maigue at Bruree have risen in the past week and prospects look good for a competitive duck race on this Sunday, September 25th. The duck race is timed for 1.30 pm and family fun day activities will commence at the sportsfield immediately afterwards.  The prize to the sponsor of the winning duck will be a flat screen television and there will be numerous other prizes for placed ducks. You can sign up as a duck sponsor with any member of the club committee and the cost is only €5. Activities there will include an underage hurling blitz, pony rides, live music, tug of war, face painting, toddlers slide, cake sale, push the bale and a barbeque. GAA celebrities will also attend.
Tug of War: There will be an entry fee of €5 per person for the tug of war competition and a team will consist of five men. Any team wishing to enter the tug of war should contact Mike Sexton (087-9188375) before Friday, September 23rd.

Bruree Ladies Football

On Saturday Bruree had a great win in the Junior B Championship Final against Rathkeale at Croagh. The final score of Bruree 2-14 V Rathkeale 1-3 does the Bruree girl’s great credit. Well done girls.

Defibrillator
The Bruree Rockhill Defibrillator committee would like to thank all those who supported the organisation in their recent fund raising events. The vintage rally, the golf classic and the church gate collection were all generously supported. As a result of this support, there are sufficient funds to commence further training. Therefore anyone interested in becoming a responder should contact 086-6067362. Once again, thank you for your tremendous continued support.

St. Munchin’s Well

Parishioners will have noticed that recent construction work at St. Munchin’s Well in the village has been almost completed. The source of the well was located and it has been made accessible. The well has a pattern day tradition going back well over one hundred and twenty years and possibly much longer. Tradition has it that the water from the well was effective for stomach ailments.
To finish off the work, landscaping is now needed. Anyone who would like to donate a shrub for the landscaping can drop it off at the back of Costcutters in the village, in a plastic bag for cleanliness purposes.

Lotto

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 Seamus Sexton €25 Paddy O’Regan, Mary McCarthy €20 Matthew O’Halloran, NewportMag Five, Michael Hogan Jnr.
