Bruree Notes 2/10/2011


Open Night

An open night will be held at Bruree National School on Thursday, October 13th to outline draft plans for the development of Bruree sportsfield. This is a follow on to the consultation with the parish which took place recently and results of that consultation will be presented on the night. All parishioners are invited to attend.

45 Drive

Winners of last week’s 45 Drive were Eddie O’Dea and partner with ten games. Runners up with eight games were Mary Noonan and Evelyn Byrnes. Raffle prizes went to Mary Noonan (x2) Eddie O’Dea and Sean Healy. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Jack Kelleher, Main Streetand Seamus Browne, Coolreawho died recently.

Defibrillator

The Bruree Rockhill Defibrillator committee would like to thank all those who supported the organisation in their recent fund raising events. The vintage rally, the golf classic and the church gate collection were all generously supported. As a result of this support, there are sufficient funds to commence further training. Therefore anyone interested in becoming a responder should contact 086-6067362. Once again, thank you for your tremendous continued support.

Radio Course

Introduction to Community Radio (FETAC Level 4 Community Radio) will start on October 13th, 2011 at Ballyhoura Community Radio, Smiths Lane, Charleville, Co. Cork. The course aims to give learners grounding in both the ethos of community radio and in the practical skills. The course will take 21 hours over seven weeks and will mix hands-on skills with theory in each session. The course is open to anybody from any background. It is particularly suited to new volunteers in community radio stations, and those interested in community media/and or radio programme production. Basic IT skills would be an advantage but are not essential. This course is a nationally accredited course leading to a FETAC Level 4 in Community Radio (Component Certificate) on the National Framework of Qualifications. Contact 063 - 30033 or miriam@bcradio.ie for more details.

Golf Society

Congratulations to Margaret and Danny Deady on winning the South of Ireland Foursomes recently. Congrats also to Ger Mullane on his President’s Prize win at Charleville Golf Club and to father and son duo of Kevin and Mark Cagneyon their prize at Limerick Golf Club recently.

Rockhill Rovers

Rockhill had a great win on home ground on Sunday. They defeated Old Mill 3-0 in the league with Brian O’Rourke and Kieran O’Dea (2) providing the goals.
