Bruree Notes 20/11/2011


The Right Note

Rockhill Bruree Sportsfield Development Committee will present The Right Note, a gala night of music, song and dance in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Bruree on Friday December 9th. Doors will open at 7.00 pm and the presentation will start at 7.30 pm. MC for the night will be Micheal Ò Riain. Admission is just €10 for adults and €5 for children under 12. There will also be a monster raffle on the night for prizes including a weekend away, gift vouchers, meal vouchers and hampers galore. Tickets are available from committee members.

Sportsfield

The AGM of the Rockhill Bruree Sportsfield Development Committee was held on Friday night last at St. Patrick’s National School. There was a large and representative attendance which was welcomed by chairman Noel O’Halloran. Noel also thanked the committee for their work to date and pointed out that the feasibility study and needs assessment had been completed. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Chairman Noel O’Halloran, Secretary Elaine Horgan, Treasurer Joseph Carey, PRO John Harrold, Assistant PRO/IT Chris Culhane, Committee Jimmy Woulfe, Noel Brosnan, Sean O’Connor, Gerard Murphy, Bernie Sheehan, Rebecca Murphy, Kit O’Halloran, Mai McKiernan, Judy Tobin, Eamon O’Dea, Brendan Hogan and James Lyons. A couple of fundraising initiatives have been put in place. A musical evening will be held in Bruree Church on Friday, December 9th (full details elsewhere in these notes). A bag packing session has been organised for Tescoat the Crescent Shopping Centre for Monday December 19th from 1.00 to 5.00 pm. Anyone interested in helping out is asked to contact Mai McKiernan.

Bruree GAA

Players Development Fund: Bruree GAA is holding its Player Development Fund annual draw again this year. The 2011 draw has €4,000 in prizes over four weekly draws. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just €20 for the four draws. The first draw will be held on Monday, November 28th, with the other draws on subsequent Monday nights. The Grand Prize in the final draw on Monday, December 19th is a weekend for two in New York or €1,000 in cash. The first draw is on Monday night next so join immediately to be in with a chance of winning. Contact any member of Bruree GAA to join the draw.
A.G.M. The Annual General Meeting of Bruree GAA will be held on Friday, December 16th, in Bruree School, starting at 8.00 pm sharp. Notice for the meeting has gone to all members and all nominations and motions must be with Brendan Hogan by Thursday, November 24th.

45 Drive

Winners of last week’s 45 Drive were Brendan O’Kelly and Mary Margaret Noonan, Noreen Hayes and Josephine Lynch and Fintan Stone and Mike O’Brien with eight games. Raffle prizes went to Josephine Lynch, Mary Noonan, Fintan Stone and John Sheehan. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

Juvenile GAA

Fixtures:
Bruree’s Under 16 footballers take on Fedamore next Saturday, November 19th, in Bruree at 11.30am in the County Shield semi-final.
Bruree Juvenile GAA AGM will take place on Friday November 25th at 8.00pm in Bruree National School. We would like to see as many as possible attending and newcomers to the parish will be especially welcome.

Hospice

A 45 Drive in aid of Milford Hospice will be held at Meanus Community Centre on Sunday, November 27th starting at 8.30 pm. There will be a monster raffle and admission tickets are just €5.

One Man Band

Ballyhoura Community Radio (BCR92.6FM) will launch its radio documentary “The One Man Band” at the Charleville Park Hotel on Monday, December 5th, at 9.00pm the documentary tells the story of the late great Johnny Barrett and music for the night will be provided by Dermot Lyons and guests. Tickets are €10 and are available locally from John Harrold, any of the other BCR92.6FM presenters or at the door on the night.

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 James O’Connor, Derawlin €25 Maurice Conway, Rose Harvey €20 Ted Boyce, Rockhill, Joan Finn, Francis Fitzgerald, Hospital.
