BRUREE NOTES 15/4/2012


SCRAP FOR SPORTSFIELD:

On this Saturday, April 21st, and Sunday, April 22nd, the Sportsfield Development Committee will hold a scrap metal collection to raise funds for the proposed development. Support the Sports Field Development fund by brings along any old scrap metal to the designated collection point which is the Old Creamery Yard situated between O’Rourke’s Cross and Bruree. This will be signposted on the day. Domestic items suitable for collection include saucepans, kettles (non plastic), washing machines, radiators, solid fuel cookers, food mixers, old boilers, fireplaces (steel), engine parts, golf irons, swing frames, bicycles, lawnmowers, engine parts and old cars. Agricultural and industrial items could include sheet metal, industrial equipment, plant batteries, gates and steel frames, copper, engines and car parts, railway line, tractors and diggers, barrels, aluminium frames, cement mixers, old farm machinery, old scaffolding, stainless steel, brass and lead, steel girders, horse machinery, and diggers. Donors are asked to note that fridges, gas cylinders, televisions or tyres will not be accepted. Pickup of large items or large quantities can be arranged.

Soccer Tournament: A 6-a-side tournament to fundraise for Rockhill Bruree Sportfield will be held on Sunday, June 10th, at Bruree Sportsfield. Players must be over 16. The squad of 8 must have two women and one player over 35. The entry fee is €80 per team and the tournament is limited to 16 teams so get your team early. Contact Sean Deane for further details. JUVENILE GAA:

Our Under 16 hurlers had a very good win over Feenagh/Kilmeedy in Feenagh. Eoin O’Connell was outstanding in goals and there were also great individual performances from William Howard, Pa Carey, Seamus Lyons, Cian McCarthy, Shane Feane and Aaron Fitzgerald. We now take on Glenroe in Bruree next Monday evening at 6.45pm.
Drug Awareness: Bruree Juvenile GAA is hosting a Drugs Awareness Night on tonight, Thursday, April 19th, at 7.30pm in the school. This talk is highly recommended for parents of older children and teenagers and all are welcome.

TABLE QUIZ:

There will be a Table Quiz in aid of the Kilmallock and North Liberties Mental Health Association on Friday, April 27th, at the Central Bar, Bruree. The quiz will start at 8.30 pm and the subscription is €40 for a table of four. Finger food will be served and there will be a raffle on the night. Contact Jessie (087-6392267) for further details.
