GAA:

Golf Classic: Bruree GAA in conjunction with Bruree Golf Society will hold their Golf Classic at Charleville Golf Club on this Friday, June 1st next. This will be the club’s main fundraising event for 2012 and it is hoped that the event will generate the funding required to maintain club services to an appropriate standard.
The club competes at Senior and Junior level in hurling and Intermediate level in football. We also have a vibrant Juvenile GAA Club, catering for both boys and girls in hurling and football from Under 8 up to Minor. There are visible signs that the coaching and development of players at all levels is coming to fruition.
The club looks forward to the next couple of years with confidence. There is a great club spirit and there are big plans afoot for the parish sportsfield. The club has a strong core of adult players in both hurling and football and plans are in place to augment these with a new crop of young players coming through from underage level.
There are two ways in which you can support our event.
1. By entering or sponsoring a team. The subscription is just €90 per team of three and the overall winners will receive All-Ireland hurling final tickets and overnight accommodation in Dublin. Team entries to John Carey at 087-2701771.
2. By sponsoring a tee box, your name will be prominently displayed at the tee. Please contact Johnny Wall at 087-1264592.
We look forward to your support for our Golf Classic and thank you for your generous support and assistance in the past.

JUVENILE GAA:

Under 12 Football: Brú Rí 4 - 6 Cromadh 9 - 6 The Under 12 season continued with a football game against Croom in Bruree on Thursday 17th May, a dull and cloudy evening. A goal from Croom put the visitors into an early lead, though this was quickly answered by two points from Frankie Barrington and Sam Cronolly. Another goal from Croom was followed by a goal from the host side, scored by Sam Cronolly. Players on both sides fought hard for the rest of the first half, point for point, with Frankie Barrington and Jimmy Leslie-Madigan scoring for Bruree. The teams got another goal each towards the end of the first half, putting Croom slightly ahead with a score of 3 - 5 to Bruree’s 2 - 5 when the sides broke apart for refreshment and advice.
Croom’s return to the pitch was marked with vigour and determination, and they got two goals in the opening minutes of the second half. Sam Cronolly’s answering point and Cathal Barrington’s two goals seemed to herald a comeback for the home side but despite plenty of energetic possession and valiant teamwork it became increasingly difficult to penetrate Croom’s packed defence as the second half progressed. Meanwhile, the visiting team used every opportunity to score, winning a further four goals and two points before the end of the game. The final score was Croom 9 - 6, Bruree 4 - 6. Beidh lá eile ag Brú Rí!
Blitz: Bruree’s Under 10s took part in a three way hurling blitz in Bruree at the weekend. Blackrock and Castletown/Ballyagran completed the trio of teams in a competition which saw some excellent hurling and some great contests. Bruree played Blackrock to start off their days hurling but goals from Frank Barrington, Luke Sexton and Sam Williams were not enough to give Bruree victory. Castletown/Ballyagran fielded a very strong side and, try as they might, Bruree could not find a way through their defence. Bruree notched up one goal in a sterling performance. Well done to everyone who took part in the competition.

THANK YOU:
