DO YOU WANT TO DE-CLUTTER?:

Everyone has a collection of stuff they no longer need, want or use. A car boot sale is the ideal place to get rid of it. Just fill up your car, find a small table and come along and set up your stall. The next in the series of very successful Car Boot Sales will be held on Saturday, August 25th, at the Old Creamery Yard between O’Rourkes Cross and Bruree village. Proceeds of the sale go towards the sportsfield development. Sellers can set up from 8.00 am and the admission is €10 for cars or €15 for vans. The sale is open to the public from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm and admission is just €2 for adults. Children are admitted free. Tea and refreshments will be available. The sale is well worth a visit and you never know what bargain you might pick up.

GAA:

Bruree’s Senior hurlers qualified for the semi-final of the County Cup compliments of a 3-10 to 1-14 win over Granagh/Ballingarry at Kilmallock on Sunday. Had other games in the group ended differently, Bruree might have been looking at a county quarter-final spot but this was not to be. This is Bruree’s most successful season at Senior level in five or six years and hopefully they can go all the way in this competition. Bruree trailed by 1-4 to 1-7 at half time but a good second half saw them take the spoils on the day. Bruree will meet Doon in the semi-final of the County Cup. Well done to all involved.

JUVENILE GAA:

Our Under 16 hurlers have qualified for the County Final of the 11 a side Cup which is scheduled to be played next weekend. They won all their matches to date but will face a stern test in the Final.
Under 14 Hurling Championship
Result: Bruree 6-9 Blackrock 2-4
The Under 14 hurlers had a good win on Saturday evening in their last group game of the county championship. The lads started very well with Daire O’Driscoll establishing dominance in the midfield area and Sean Quirke very lively up front. As the game wore on the lads were on top in all sectors of the field. Tommy Cronolly struck some fine scores and Cathal Barrington took his goal well but Sean Quirke was our scorer in chief on the night. In defence Brian Sexton and David O’Connell marshalled their areas well and Sam Cronolly was secure as ever in goal.
We now have to wait for other results to discover whether we will be involved in the Cup or shield competition in this grade. Our next confirmed outing will be the County Football Semi-Final on the 15th August with our opposition not confirmed as yet. Further hurling fixtures are not available at this time but will be advised by text.
