Bruree Notes 20/3/2011

Lotto

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 Geraldine Sheehan €25 John Dunne, Castletown, Kathryn and Laura Leslie €20 Tom Noonan, Rathkeale, Diarmuid Wall, Ann Potter.

Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Lena Stanton, Ballynaught, Eileen Carmody, Newcastle West and Eamon McGee, Donegal, who died recently.

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning in aid of Daffodil Day will be held at Mildred O’Dea’s house in Ballynaught on Friday morning next, March 25th. Everyone is welcome from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm in support of this good cause.

45 Drive
Winners of the 45 Drive last week with nine games were Eddie Ryan and Tom O’Rourke and Mary Noonan and Evelyn Byrnes. Raffle prizes went to Tom Collins, Joe Carey, Eddie Ryan and Nora May Donworth.  The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

Parent Baby and Toddler Group

The parent, baby and toddler group meet every Tuesday at Bruree National School hall from 10.00 to 12.00 am. Parents/grandparents are invited to come along and enjoy a chat with other parents over a nice cup of tea whilst your little ones enjoy playing and socialising with other kids their own size. There is lots of fun to be had!! People from all surrounding areas are very welcome. Contact Helen (087-9412600), Margie (086-0747581) or just come along on Tuesday at 10.00 am. See you there.

Awards Night

The Bruree GAA awards night will be held at Deebert House Hotel, KIlmallock, on Saturday, April 2nd, starting at 9.00 pm. Tickets cost just €10 and are available from Laura O’Sullivan or Noel O’Halloran. All members are asked to make a special effort to attend.

Bruree Rockhill Community Games
Talent Under 14: The qualifying rounds of the Under 14 talent competition were held in Caherconlish and in Askeaton. Michelle Brosnan qualified for the final in solo music. Well done, Michelle. She will perform again in Caherconlish in the final. Ciara Mullane, Denisa Lansdorfova and Megan O’Grady took part in the modern dancing. Julianne Barrington performed very well in the solo music. We also had a group in the Irish dancing competition. They were Edward Moore, Brian Sexton, Sean Quirke, Ciara Daly, Megan O’Grady and Ciara Mullane.Katie Quirke took part in the solo Irish dancing. They all performed very well but didn’t qualify for the finals.
Handwriting: A new event is community games this year is Under 10 handwriting. These are the results of our local competition: Girls - 1 Gabrielle Nyst 2 Holly O’Dwyer 3 Rachel Tobin Boys - 1 Sam Williams 2 Tom Curtin 3 Rory O’Gorman. These children represented us in the county handwriting competition. We wish them the best of luck.

Fashion Extravaganza

RTE newsreader, Anne Doyle, will compere an evening of fashions at the Charleville Park Hotel on Friday, April 8th, starting at 8.00 pm. Local shops will display their latest fashion ranges for ladies and men in a fundraising night in aid of Ballyhoura Community Radio. Tickets are just €10 and are available from the station’s studios at Smith’s Lane, Charleville, from the hotel, from the Oriel, Horgans and the participating shops or locally from John Harrold.
