BRUREE NOTES 12/2/2012


ROAD WORKS:

Limerick County Council has been doing road works around the parish in recent months. In the village, the wall to the west of the village has been repaired and resurfacing has taken place at Railway Mews. Major road re-alignment has taken place at Rockhill Cross and this is now finished. Junction layout changes have also taken place at O’Rourke’s Cross. These badly needed works will hopefully make things safer for motorists.

45 DRIVE:

Winners of last week’s 45 Drive were Tom O’Rourke and John Moloney and Katherine O’Regan and Sean Blake with seven games. Raffle prizes went to Noreen Hayes, Katherine O’Regan, Martin Carroll and Ann Potter. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

JUVENILE GAA:

Training for the following teams will continue at these times until further notice.
Under 12 - Saturday in the field from 10.00 – 11.30am.
Under 14 - Sunday from 10.00 -11.00am.

BRUREE/ROCKHILL COMMUNITY GAMES:

The Community Games Committee would like to express its gratitude to the Rockhill Rovers and Bruree GAA lotto for their generosity in supporting the community games. A special thanks to all those who helped to sell tickets. Community Games Committee members, Chairperson Margie Crowley, Games Director Mary McSweeney, (Limerick Representative on Munster Council of Community Games), Secretary Rebecca Murphy, Treasurer Marion Frawley, PRO Monica Quealey.

SYMPATHY:

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Patrick Doherty, Mallow, Emer Í Chuív (De Valera), Dublin, and Bill Lynch, Cork, who died recently.

GAA:

Presentation and Awards Night: Bruree GAA will hold it’s annual presentation and awards night on Saturday, February 25th, at the Central bar, Bruree. The night will start at 8.00 pm sharp. The Bruree team who won the county minor hurling title in 1987 will be special guests to mark twenty five years since they won the title. They will receive special presentations and the club’s annual awards will also be presented on the night. Hurler and footballer of the year as well as Hall of Fame and Sports Personality recipients will be announced. Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free.
Mackey Draw: Bruree GAA will once again promote the Limerick GAA Development Draw for 2012 as one of its main fundraisers. The top prize each month is €15,000 and the subscription is €100 for the year. Please support your club and your county by joining the draw with any of the local promoters or any committee member.

BRUREE LADIES FOOTBALL:

Bruree Ladies Football will hold their AGM on Monday 20th of February. The meeting will take place in Bruree National School at 8.00 pm. Following the success of last year, our adult team are now competing at Juniorlevel. As always we would love to see new members so all are welcome. This year Bruree Ladies Football is also looking towards the option of entering underage team(s). We would like to invite any interested parents of girls under 12 years of age to attend the meeting to discuss this further.
A presentation night will also take place to this year’s county winning team on Saturday 25th of February at the Central Bar Bruree from 8.00 pm. All are welcome!
Finally Bruree Ladies Football would like to congratulate Sinéad Costello on winning a South Limerick All-Star Award. The awards night will take place in Bulgaden on Saturday 3rd of March.

LOTTO:

Lucky Dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 Breda Cussen €25 Breda O’Donnell, Tankardstown, Georgina Frawley €20 Jim O’Connor, Derawlin, Jerry McCarthy, Moloney’sBar.

BANOGUE:

The Banogue production of Annie Get Your Gun continues this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 17/18/19th at 8.00 pm. A most enjoyable show will provide an entertaining night out for all ages.
