SPORTSFIELD:
Weekend: We had a great weekend at Bruree sportsfield as the sun shone and young and not so young made full use of the facility. On Saturday we had the tri county Under 8 and Under 10 hurling blitz organised by Bruree Juvenile GAA. On Sunday the 6-a-side soccer tournament to celebrate Ireland’s qualification for the European Championships saw over four hours of great competition. The winners were Charlie O’Shea’s team with Mike Shinney’s team as runners up. The other positions went to the Maiguesiders, Bulgaden Castle, Croom and Andrew Sexton’s team, in that order. The penalty kick competition was won by Patrick Mooney. Thanks to Sean Deane for all the work he put in in organising the tournament and to everyone who helped in any way with the running of it. Thanks to all the players who took part.
Car Boot Sale: The next Car Boot Sale will be held on Saturday, June 30th, at the Old Creamery Yard between O’Rourkes Cross and Bruree village. Traders can set up from 8.00 am and the admission is €10 for cars or €20 for vans. The sale is open to the public from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm and admission is just €2 for adults. Children are admitted free. Tea and refreshments will be available.

Blitz: Bruree hosted a Tri County hurling Blitz on last Saturday at the field. Under 8 and Under 10 Teams from Charleville of Cork, Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams of Tipperary and Bruree of Limerick competed. This event was sponsored by Stryker Orthopaedics and we are very grateful to them and to Jim O Connell for their support. Thanks to everyone who helped in any way and especially all those who provide the refreshments.
Under 8 Blitz: Charleville, Bruree and Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams of Tipperary competed in a hurling blitz at Bruree sportsfield on Saturday. The games in this competition were very close. Bruree’s first game was against Charleville and, in spite of a goal from Sean Frawley and two points from Sam Williams, Bruree had to yield the day to the Cork team on a 1-2 to 1-3 scoreline. Next up was Knockavilla Kickhams and another tight game. Frankie Barrington provided all of Bruree’s scores but the home team lost out on a 2-1 to 1-1 scoreline. Well done to all the Bruree players on a great performance.
