BRUREE NOTES 15/11/2009

GAA

AGM: There was a smaller than normal turnout at the Bruree GAA Annual General Meeting at Bruree Community Centre on Saturday night last. Chairman Noel O’Halloran welcomed everybody and thanked them for turning out on the night. Secretary, Elaine Horgan, in her report outlined the club’s year on the playing field and thanked everyone for their efforts. She also thanked the clubs sponsors and all those who had supported the various fundraising activities during the year. Elaine thanked her fellow officers and committee for their support during her four years as secretary. In his address, chairman Noel O’Halloran, also thanked everyone involved with the club during the past year as player, mentor or member. He also thanked everyone involved in the lotto and Martin Ryan for his sponsored walk in aid of the club. Noel thanked the principal and staff of Bruree National School for promoting our games and officers and members of the juvenile club for their efforts. He had a special mention for the summer camp which was anther success in 2009 and said it was great to see so many parents attending. Noel wished everyone the best for 2010 and hoped that the new season would bring silverware and a renewed sense of pride to the club. The treasurer’s report showed the club operated at a loss for the past year and had to draw on some of its reserves. Steps will be taken to ensure that the club operates with a surplus in 2010. The following are the officers for the coming year: Life President Ann Potter, Chairman Noel O’Halloran, Vice Chairman Gerard Mullane, Treasurer Johnny Wall, Assistant Treasurer Kit O’Halloran, PRO John Harrold, Registrar Brendan Hogan, Youth Officer David Hogan, Irish Officer Noel Brosnan. The positions of secretary and assistant secretary will be filled by the executive committee.
Players Meeting: There will be a players meeting on this Friday, November 20th. All players are asked to attend.
Players Development Fund: Bruree GAA is holding its Player Development Fund annual draw again this year. The 2009 draw has €1,000 in cash as a first prize in each of four weekly draws. There will also be one prize of €200 and three of €100 for each draw. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just €20 for the four draws. The first draw will be held on Monday, November 30th, with the other draws on subsequent Monday nights. Contact any member of Bruree GAA to join the draw.
