BRUREE NOTES 22/11/2009

ROCKHILL ROVERS

Rockhill Rovers AFC celebrated a successful season at the Central Bar on Saturday night last. The club won the Reidy Cup this season and were runners up in the Division 3 Cup. Rockhill were also Desmond League Division 3 runners up. The medals were presented by Karen Rea on Saturday night. The panel for the season was Pat O’Shea, Stephen O’Halloran, Mark Noonan, Anthony O’Shea, James C. O’Brien, Jimmy O’Dea, Vincent Stanton, Shane Mullane, Brian O’Rourke, Paddy Kelly, Michael Lane, Michael Brouder, Gerard O’Dea, Donal Deady, John Paul Horgan, Patrick Horgan, Tom O’Shea.

GAA

Membership: The annual membership subscription is now due and should be paid to Kit O’Halloran immediately. The membership fee for 2010 is €20 for adults. Any player will not be allowed participate in training or play in games until such time as they have paid their membership fee.
Players Development Fund: The first Bruree GAA Player Development Fund draw is almost on us. All those with cards are asked to make a final effort to fill their cards and to return full cards and money as soon as possible to their team leader. The 2009 draw has €1,000 in cash as a first prize in each of four weekly draws. There will also be one prize of €200 and three of €100 for each draw. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just €20 for the four draws. The first draw will be held on Monday night next, November 30th, with the other draws on subsequent Monday nights. Contact any member of Bruree GAA to join the draw.

HIP-HOP DANCING

Hip-hop dancing classes continue in Bruree on Friday nights. The sessions will run in Bruree Community Centre every Friday starting this Friday, November 6th as follows: 5.00pm to 6.00pm for 4 to 8 years old and 6.00pm to 7.00pm for 9 to 16 years old. 45 DRIVE

Winners of the 45 Drive last week with seven games were Josephine Lynch and Sadie Moloney, Fintan Stone and Tom Hanley and John and Marie Healy. Raffle prizes went to Josephine Lynch, Jim O’Connor, John Healy and Mary Margaret Noonan. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

ST. PATRICK’S NATIONAL SCHOOL

Silver circle draw results Week 3: - 1st Michael O’Brien Jnr., Kilfenora, Co. Clare, 2nd Jason Nyst, 3rd Christopher Kelleher, 4th Noel Bolger, Ennis, Co. Clare, 5th Carmel Murphy, Seller’s Prize: - Niamh O’Brien.
U.L: Earlier this month, Sixth Class traveled to the University of Limerick for the Open Day for Science Week.
Lough Gur: Pupils from Fifth and Sixth Classes at the school traveled to Lough Gur during November. There, Geoff Hunt of Birdwatch Ireland showed the pupils the various habitats and they got the opportunity to observe the bird life at the lake.

CHRISTMAS CARDS

A limited number of Bruree themed Christmas cards are available at the De Valera Museum and Bruree Heritage Centre. The cards have a selection of views of Bruree are cost €1 each. Profit from the cards goes to the museum.
