BRUREE NOTES 21/3/2010

COFFEE MORNING




A Coffee Morning in aid of Daffodil Day will be held at Mildred O’Dea’s house in Ballynaught, on this Friday, March 26th, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm approximately. Everybody is welcome.



FASHION SHOW



The Ballyhoura Community Radio Fashion Show will take place on this Friday, March 26th, in the sumptuous function room of the Charleville Park Hotel, starting at 8.00 pm. The Hilary Thompson Agency will provide the models. The latest Spring and Summer fashion ranges from Murray’s, Moran’s, Lily’s, Charleville Country Wear, Kimono, Glitz and Glamour, Chic, Charisma, Butterscotch and Little Uniques will be on show on the night. Tickets, priced at a very reasonable €15.00 each, are available from John Harrold, from committee members and from Horgan’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Charleville.



GAA



Membership: The annual membership subscription is now overdue and should be paid to Kit O’Halloran immediately. The membership fee for 2010 is €20 for adults. Any player will not be allowed participate in training or play in games until such time as they have paid their membership fee.



45 DRIVE



Winners of the 45 Drive last week with nine games were Katherine O’Regan and Sean Blake. Runners up with eight games were Sadie Moloney and Tom O’Rourke. Raffle prizes went to Tom Hanley (x3) and Mike O’Brien. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.



CEOILTE AT BEECH LODGE



Beech Lodge Care Facility was alive with the sounds of traditional Irish music and dance as The Butterfly Company brought their magical show Ceoilte to the nursing home last Friday morning. Featuring music from Riverdance, old favourites like Danny Boy and lively Irish dancing, residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance. A big thank you to performers Edel Lawless, Sarahrose Murphy, Katie Brennan and director Emma Joyce who did a marvellous job.

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 B. O’Rourke, c/o Nora Power €25 Dan and Eilish c/o Frank Finn, Darragh Sexton €20 Ann O’Brien, Rockhill, Gerard Malone, Gerard O’Dea.



COMMUNITY PRE-SCHOOL



Bruree Rockhill Community Childcare Ltd. aims to set up a community pre-school in Bruree village in September 2010. All children are entitled to one year free pre-school between the age of three years and ten months and five years of age. Children born between February 2006 and June 2007 would be eligible for free pre-school in September 2010. We are holding an Easter raffle to raise funds to set up the pre-school with a giant Easter hamper as first prize. Second prize is an Easter basket and third prize a luxury Easter egg. Tickets at just €2 each are available from local shops, the Post Office, the Primary School and the Central Bar. Tickets are also available from the following committee members Mai McKiernan, Judy Tobin, Elaine O’Dwyer, Rebecca Murphy, Marian Frawley, Sìle De Clèir, Mary Daly and Eileen Williams. The draw will take place on Holy Thursday, April 1st at 9.00 pm in the Central Bar.



The Parent and Toddler Group continues to meet every Tuesday from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Primary School during school term. All children including infants to pre-school and their parents/carers are welcome to come along.
