BRUREE NOTES 6/6/2010

TIDY TOWNS

Bruree has once again been entered in the National Tidy Towns competition. Over the past few years the village has made steady progress in the competition and hopefully will continue that progress in 2010. All residents are encouraged to do their part in presenting Bruree at its best. The absence of litter is a strong focal point with Tidy Towns judges and everyone can help to ensure that the village and its approaches are litter free by disposing of their litter properly. A touch of paint and a few flowers can also help.

BROADBAND

The following is a reply that Niall Collins T.D. received from Eircom to an enquiry as to the status of the upgrading of Bruree to broadband:

“Unfortunately there have been some further delays with regard to the broadband enablement of the Bruree exchange. I cannot offer you a definitive date for broadband provision as there is a significant amount of work required to improve the transmission capability that serves the exchange. This work must take place before the equipment can be installed and broadband can be facilitated. Some work has already been carried out, but due to capital constraints it is unlikely the Bruree exchange will be broadband enabled before mid 2011.”

This is very disappointing news for anyone waiting to access broadband through their telephone line in Bruree.

BRING CENTRE

The Bring Centre in Bruree is one of the village’s most used facilities. It is a simple way of cutting back on your refuse collection costs by recycling glass bottles and jars and food and drink cans. Please ensure that you place the various items in their correct receptacles and take away any bags, boxes etc. you use to bring your recyclables to the centre. It is illegal to dump other rubbish at the centre. There have been isolated incidents of this in recent times and we hope that those involved will see the error of their ways and desist.

If you have any enquiries contact Laura Leslie, camp co-ordinator on 087-7744028 after 3.00 pm.

JUVENILE GAA

Summer Coaching Week: It has long been insisted that players represent the most important constituent in any GAA club. They are our key resource and give so much enjoyment to so many people year after year. As a result, our club coaches have a most important job to perform in ensuring that the youth continue to play and enjoy our games, and that all of our players continue to develop as athletes. With this in mind, early this summer Bruree Juvenile Club is holding a Summer Coaching Week for both Hurling and Football between Monday June 28th and Friday July 2nd. The camp will be from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm on the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Participants should bring their hurley and helmet every day. Please note that helmets are compulsory. This week of coaching is open to all children in the parish from 7 to 14 years of age. All basic skills in Hurling and Football will be demonstrated/coached so any “new” players will be especially welcome. At the end of the week, on the Friday evening from 6.30 to 8.30 pm, there will be some games and activities for all and presentation of sports gear. The total cost for this great week is €30 and is due by Saturday June 5th at the latest. Please enclose the fee in an envelope and bring to trainings and give to the relevant coaches (please do not return through the school). There will be a registration day in the field on Saturday June 5th between 11 am and 12 noon to accept forms and for parents who may have any queries. It is important that all young people in the parish have the chance to receive the proper coaching and Bruree Juvenile Club hope that participation in this Coaching Week will enable them to have fun, make friends and become better players! So please make the effort and make this a special week for all!
