Bruree Notes 18/12/2011

Bruree National School:

Girls Football: The girls from 3rd to 6th class played some fantastic football in the schools football competition over the past couple of weeks. In the first match against Hospital girls football team, Bruree’s girls won on a 7-7 to 0-0 scoreline. The captain was Emma Hogan and the scorers were Emma Howard 2-3, Emma Hogan 2-2, Lauren Corrigan 2-0, Mary Murphy 1-0 and Timea Fabryova 0-2. In the second match, Bruree played Croom. The final score was Bruree 6-8 Croom 0-0. The scorers were Emma Howard 2-2, Timea Fabryova 2-0, Lauren Corrigan 2-0, Emma Hogan 0-4, Mary Murphy 0-1 and Grainne Monaghan 0-1. The captain was Grace Donworth. In the final againstGalbally school, the Bruree girls had a narrow victory on a 2-4 to 2-2 scoreline. The scorers were Lauren Corrigan 2-2, Emma Howard 0-1 and Emma Hogan 0-1. The cup was presented to the Bruree captain, Emma Hogan, much to the delight of the supporters. Many thanks are extended to the supporters who gave them great encouragement and also to the trainers of the team - Mrs McSweeney, Miss Hannon and Mr. Woulfe. The full panel of players was Emma Hogan, Emma Howard, Lauren Corrigan, Julianne Barrington, Grace Donworth, Grainne Monaghan, Megan O’Grady, Kate O’Donnell, Times Fabryova, Lauren Considine, Kiara McCarthy, Mary Murphy, Rachel Williams,Kayleigh Thompson, Katie Quirke, Jennifer Cotter, Holly O’Dwyer, Gabrielle Nyst, Lorna Murphy, Emma Kerins and Julia Wisniewska. Many thanks to Costcutters shop in Bruree for all the treats they gave the children on their return to Bruree with the cup. Many thanks to Bernie Sheehan who made a beautiful cake to celebrate the occasion.

Bruree GAA:

A.G.M. The Annual General Meeting of Bruree GAA was held on Friday last in Bruree School. There was a large attendance at the most important meeting of the year. Vice-chairman, Gerard Mullane welcomed everyone and called for a minutes silence as a mark of respect for those connected with the club who had passed away during the past twelve months.  He thanked everyone who had assisted in any way with the running of the club during 2011 - members and officers and committee, players, team mentors, sponsors, Bruree National School and parents. Assistant secretary, Brendan Hogan, delivered a very comprehensive report on the years activities. The club played over fifty games during the year between competitive and challenge games in Senior and Junior Hurling and Intermediate Football.
Treasurer, Johnny Wall, also presented a detailed report which sowed the club to be in a healthy financial state.

Season Tickets: 2012 season tickets which admit the holder to all games under the jurisdiction of the Limerick Senior County Board for the year are now available at just €100 each. Contact 061-326500 for full details. 

45 Drive:

Winners of last week’s 45 Drive were Brendan O’Kelly and John Sheahan and John and Marie Healy with nine games. Raffle prizes went to John Healy, Mary Margaret Noonan, Mary Noonan and Tom O’Rourke. The 45 Drive continues in the Community Centre every Tuesday night, starting at 8.30 pm sharp.

School Draw:

The following were the prize winners in the Week 5 Silver Circle Draw 1st prize Maura and Pat Lyons, Seller Muireann McCann, 2nd prize Brian Kelleher c/o Kerry Foods, 3rd prize Eamon Sexton, 4th prize BredaMcCarthy, 5th prize Breeda Curtin. Sympathy:

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Johnny Donegan, Dromcollogher, and Paddy Hennessy, Kilmallock, who died recently.
