BRUREE NOTES 30/9/2012

RACE NIGHT:

The Rockhill Bruree Sportsfield Development Committee held a very successful Race Night at the Central Bar on Friday night last. A large crowd attended and betting was brisk. Thanks to everyone who supported the night by attending or by purchasing horses or advertisements. Thanks to the Central Bar for the venue and to all the people who helped out on the night. Thanks to Danny Deady who was our auctioneer on the night. The night would not be possible without our sponsors and we thank them most sincerely for their continued and generous support.

GAA:

ROCKHILL ROVERS:

Rockhill were in Munster Junior Cup action away to Kilcornan and minus a few regulars. And to be fair, the lads that came in to the team did superbly. Rockhill have been very good lately at starting games a lot quicker then our opponents, yesterday it was more of the same. They played fantastic football throughout the game and were dominant throughout every part of the field. The goal came midway through the first half, when James Charles O’Brien started and finished a fantastic piece of play by slotting home from 12 yards out, giving the Kilcornan ‘keeper no chance. The second half was a tamer affair, with very few chances for either side. Rockhill pressed hard for a second but found it hard to convert some fine chances. Kilcornan, to their credit, never gave up and only a fine save from our ‘keeper, Charlie O’Shea, kept the score at 1-0. On the day there were some fine individual performances all round, with Andy Sexton and Michael Thompson the pick of the bunch. Another fine win and Rockhillare to play Broadford United in the next round, which will be a huge test.

HOLY SOULS:

The Holy Souls special night in Emmanuel House, Clonfert, will take place on Sunday, November 4th. It will be led by Eddie Stones and various priests. There will be a pick up in Bruree and the names (with fare of €20) should be given to Ann Mockler (063-90564). All are welcome.
