BRUREE NOTES 20/1/2013

Last Saturday's week’s Big Clean Up of the community hall was a great success.  A huge thank-you to all to turned out to help and to all who provided refreshments on the day. The hall is looking a great deal cleaner and the handball alley beginning to look like it’s old self. There is, however, more to do and we are planning to have the next clean up on this Saturday, 26th January. There is a community hall meeting next Thursday at 8.30pm, at Bruree National School. All welcome.

Rockhill Rovers played Kildimo in the league cup quarter final. Rockhill started very brightly and opened the scoring after 15 minutes when, after good work from Donie Deady, Kieran O’Dea rolled the ball past the outrushing keeper to give Rockhill a deserved lead. Rockhill were well in control for the majority of the first half until a mix up at the back allowed the Kildimo centre forward through and he made no mistake to level the game at 1-1. The second half was a more even affair but Rockhill took the lead again after 10 minutes when Michael Thompson rolled the ball in from 10 yards out. The win was sealed with 20 minutes to go when, after great work from Paddy Kelly and Shane Mullane, Michael Thompson again applied the finish. Rockhill had a couple of great chances in this half to extend the lead, but Kieran O’Dea had a header cleared off the line and also headed over from close range. All in all, it was a great win for us, a victory which silenced the opposition’s vocal support. There were some crunching tackles put in by Rockhill, James O'Brien and Michael Lane in particular, and that desire is what is needed to win the league. Great performance on the day from everyone, with Kieran O'Dea, Michael Lane and Michael Thompson particularly outstanding.
