BRUREE NOTES 3/2/2013

SPORTSFIELD AGM:

The Annual General Meeting of the Rockhill Bruree Sportsfield Development Committee will take place on this Friday, February 8th, in Bruree National School at 8.00 pm. Everyone is invited. Anyone interested in becoming involved in the committee is especially welcome, particularly anyone with professional or technical skills.

SYMPATHY:

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Jim O'Connor, Ballytigue, and Kathleen Cullen, Swanlinbar, who died recently.

CLERKS COLLECTION:

The collection for the Parish Clerk in Bruree will be taken up on Sunday morning, February 10th. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY HALL:

Once again there was a great turn out for the second Big Clean Up at the Community Hall. A huge amount of work was done to clear away the overgrown vegetation on the approach to the handball alley and a tremendous amount of cleaning and sorting out took place inside. Thank you to all who came and worked hard.  A big thank you to Beech Lodge who provided several trays of delicious sandwiches.  We plan to have another Clean Up on Saturday 16th February so please watch for notices nearer the day.

LIMERICK’S BUILT HERITAGE:

The sixth series of exploratory lectures on the theme of Limerick’s Built Heritage will take place over six Tuesday nights at the County Hall in Dooradoyle starting at 8.00 pm each night. The remaining topics are as follows: Feb 12 Medieval Limerick Today: The Built Heritage, Feb 26 The Archaeology of Mills and Milling in County Limerick from an early medieval period to c. 1900, Mar 12 University of Limerick: a Technological University on the Banks of the Shannon, Mar 26 Limerick 2030. Admission is free every night.

MEMBER’S DRAW:

The Friends of BCR92.6FM will hold a four week confined members draw starting on this Friday, February 8th, and on the following three Fridays. Members can win €500 each week. The draws will take place at the Ballyhoura Community Radio studios and the results will be announced on air and in The Vale Star. Membership at €20 for all four draws is available from John Harrold, Paul Crotty, or any volunteer.
