Bruree Notes 16/11/2008

GAA

Junior Hurling:
Our Junior hurlers came out at the right side of a thrilling county final at Feenagh on Saturday least. It was neck and neck all the way through in this local derby with Granagh-Ballingarry. Bruree led by 0-11 to 1-6 at half time and went on to win by the narrowest of margins on a 1-13 to 1-12 scoreline. The Bruree team was Eamon Sexton, Patrick Deady, Anthony O’Shea, Morgan Lyons, Vincent Stanton, Paul Fitzgerald, Brian O’Rourke, Chris Sexton, John Lynch, David Hogan, Aidan Frawley, Michael Brouder, Donal Deady, Mike Sexton, Declan Sexton, David O’Dea, Michael Cotter, John Deady, Niall Broderick, Sean Deane, Laurence Sexton, Joachim O’Kelly, John O’Halloran, David Broderick.

Players Development Fund:
Bruree GAA is holding its Player Development Fund annual draw again this year. The 2008 draw is bigger and better than ever with €1,000 in cash as a first prize in each of four weekly draws. There will also be one prize of €200 and three of €100 for each draw. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just €20 for the four draws. The first draw will be held on Monday, December 1st, with the other draws on subsequent Monday nights. Contact any member of Bruree GAA to join the draw.

45 Drive

Winners of the 45 Drive last week were Fintan Stone and Jim Murphy with nine games. Runners up with eight games were Donie O’Gorman and Stephen Cregan. Raffle prizes went to Patsy Healy, Patsy Hayes, Sean Healy and Donie O’Gorman. The 45 Drive continues at the Community Centre every Tuesday night at 8.30 pm sharp.

Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Denis O’Gorman, Ballinagoul, Paddy Dolan, Ballyagran, and Pat Hartigan, Dublin and formerly of Rockhill, who died recently.

Christmas Cookery

Celebrity TV chef, Andrew Rudd, will provide some new ideas on how to prepare and cook your Christmas dinner as well as showing alternatives to the traditional menu at the Park Hotel, Charleville, on Thursday, November 27th, in a fundraising cookery demonstration organised by Ballyhoura Community Radio. Andrew, who is a regular on TV3s Morning AM, has his own company supplying gourmet foods. The night is being sponsored by Supervalu, Charleville, who will also supply the ingredients. A feature of the event will be a number of stands highlighting locally produced food products and Christmas themed merchandise. Tickets at just €15 each are available from members of the committee of Ballyhoura Community Radio or from the hotel reception, Supervalu, Charleville, Horgan’s Pharmacy, Charleville or locally from John Harrold.

Bruree National School

A limited number of Bruree Christmas cards are available at the De Valera Museum and Bruree Heritage Centre. Profit from the cards goes to the museum.

Reunion

The members of the Bruree Under 15 Girls soccer team will hold a reunion at The Hotel, Bruree, on this Saturday, November 22nd at 8.30 pm.

Lotto

Lucky dip winners in last week’s Bruree GAA/Rockhill Rovers lotto draw were €50 Mike Potter, Kilmallock €25 Mick Fitzgerald, Ted O’Donoghue, Kildimo €20 Mike Potter, Kilmallock, Robert and Scott Harris.
