There will also be one prize of €200 and three of €100 for each draw. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just €20 for the four draws. Players are asked to return full cards and money immediately.

Camogie All Ireland: Congratulations to O’Donovan Rossa GAA Club on winning the senior all Ireland club camogie title last weekend. They are the first Ulster club to win the title. The club is based on the Falls Road in West Belfast and many people around Bruree have happy memories of the club’s visit to Bruree back in the early 1990s for Feile na nGael. Bruree’s Under 14 and adult teams spent a great weekend in Belfast as guests of O’Donovan Rossas later that year.

45 DRIVE

Winners of the 45 Drive last week were Tom Hanley and Eddie O’Dea with eight games. Runners up were Fintan Stone and Mike O’Brien and Sean Blake and Katharine O’Regan with seven games. REUNION

Flashback to 1993 - The team before they left Bruree for Mosney

The members of the Bruree Rockhill Community Games Under 15 Girls soccer team held a reunion at The Hotel, Bruree, on last Saturday night. A large number of the girls turned up for this nostalgic night along with some of the people who had been involved with the team. There were many photographs on display and a video of the games in Mosney was shown. This was the team which won the County and Munster gold medals and went on to win All Ireland bronze. They started out their 1993 campaign with a win over Killeedy in the county final played at Kilcornan. A Louise O’Brien goal approaching full time gave the girls a 1-0 victory. Bruree Rockhill defeated Clare in the Munster semi-final to earn a place in the final against Nenagh at UL. This game ended level at 2-2 at full time and at the end of extra time the game was still deadlocked on the same scoreline. Margaret Hogan found the Nenagh net twice during normal time, once in each half. Penalties were needed to decide the result and goals from Margaret Hogan and Marie O’Brien gave Bruree Rockhill a 2-1 victory in the penalty shootout. The All Ireland finals in Mosney were held at the end of August with a large Bruree Rockhill contingent travelling for the weekend. Bruree Rockhill lost to Dublin in their first game on a 2-1 scoreline but won against Tyrone on the same scoreline to take bronze medals. All our competitors at Mosney over the weekend received a great welcome home to the parish on the Tuesday evening. The soccer team was Deirdre Cussen, Laura Leslie, Suzanne Mortell, Marie Mortell, Marie O’Brien, Louise O’Brien, Eimear O’Shea Patricia O’Brien, Clodagh Downes, Georgina Frawley, Audrey Hickey, Margaret Hogan, Eileen O’Dwyer, Catriona Kelly, Niamh O’Connor and Sinead Costello. The team managers were Mike Moloney and Siobhan Potter.
