Bruree Notes 26/4/2009

GAA
Dogs: Dog owners are asked to refrain from walking their dogs in the sportsfield. Many adults and children use the sportsfield on a regular basis and there is a serious health danger from dog excrement. Please have consideration for those who want a safe place to engage in sporting activities.
Senior Hurling: Our senior hurlers played host to Tournafulla on Tuesday night. The game ended a draw but Bruree will be disappointed that they did not take full points. Bruree led by two points at the break on a 0-9 to 0-7 scoreline. Stephen O’Halloran opened Bruree’s tally early on with a point from play. Tommy O’Brien had two points from play while Tournafulla had three points during the same period. A Stephen O’Halloran pointed free put Bruree back into the lead midway through the half. Four Bruree points from play, three from Donal Deady and one from Tommy O’Brien, stretched Bruree’s lead to five but Tournafulla came back with three points from play and one from a free. A Stephen O’Halloran point from play left Bruree two points up at the break The game ebbed and flowed during the second half hour with Bruree running up three early points, one each from Michael Lane, Tommy O’Brien and Donal Deady (free). The visitors replied with three quick points to which Bruree responded with three more points, one each from play from James C. O’Brien and Donal Deady and one from a free from Donal Deady. This left Bruree with five points to spare but Tournafulla finished strongly. Bruree took their leg of the gas and Tournafulla availed of the opportunity to tack one seven points. Bruree’s only reply was two pointed frees from Donal Deady to leave the final score 0-17 each. The Bruree team was Daniel Lane, Brian O’Rourke, John O’Brien, Andrew Sexton, Patrick Fitzgerald, Stephen McDonogh, Shane Mullane, James C. O’Brien, Gerard O’Brien, Tommy O’Brien, Jimmy O’Dea, Brendan Hogan, Donal Deady, Stephen O’Halloran, Michael Lane, Paddy Kelly, John Paul Murphy, Declan Sexton.
