Lucky Escape: Limerick had a close shave against an unfancied Laois at Semple Stadium on Saturday last and must have breathed a sigh of relief when the final whistle came with Limerick three points to the good. Our own James O’Brien played a vital part in Limerick’s victory, chipping in with two important points after coming on as a sub. Well done!

Under 10s

Our Under 10 panel of players has been very busy of late, participating in both hurling and football with many single games and a blitz since April. To date in hurling the have played Castletown/Ballyagran, Shamrock Gaels, Blackrock, Coshlea Gaels, Caherline and Glenroe. In football they have taken on Coshlea Gaels and Kilteely/Dromkeen. In hurling each game consisted of one half of ground hurling and one half of one touch hurling.

On Thursday night last we played Caherline at Bruree in hurling. Conditions were almost ideal with little wind and no rain. The first half was a fine tussle with all our players giving a good account of themselves. At the break, the sides were level, with Jimmy Leslie-Madigan scoring a goal for Bruree. The pace was fast and furious in the second half with everything to play for. David O’Connell commanded the middle of the defence aided by the tireless midfield duo of Owen Carey and Sean Quirke. This paid off with two goals from Sean Quirke. Gearoid McCarthy pulled off some great saves. Overall we gave a good account of ourselves but lost narrowly on a 3-1 to 3-0 scoreline.

Panel: Julianne Barrington, David O’Connell, Jonathan Fitzpatrick, Ciara Mullane, Brian McCarthy, Sean Quirke, Owen Carey, Ciara McCarthy, Christopher Kelleher, Gearoid McCarthy, Cathal Barrington, Jimmy Leslie-Madigan, Chloe Kiely. It is hoped that training will continue through the summer holidays. Anyone going on holiday might let the trainers know in advance so that fixtures can be organised.
