GAA

Under 21 Hurling: Our Under 21 hurlers travelled to Effin on Sunday morning to play Dromin/Athlacca in the South semi-final. Bruree played with the breeze in the first half and had built up a good lead approaching half time. However, a goal for Dromin/Athlacca almost on the stroke of half time brought them back into the game at a crucial time. Bruree held a four point lead at the break (1-7 to 1-3) thanks to scores from Donal Deady 1-3, Tommy O’Brien 0-2, Michael Lane and Brian O’Rourke 0-1 each. Bruree faded early in the second half and could only manage two points, both from Donal Deady frees, in twenty minutes. By this stage, Dromin/Athlacca had gone into a slender lead. Bruree came into the game with two points from play from Tommy O’Brien to regain the lead for Bruree. However, Dromin/Athlacca finished the stronger and, with three points from placed balls, including a penalty, ran out 1-11 to 1-13 winners. The Bruree team was Christy Kelly, David Deady, Jimmy O’Dea, Patrick Deady, Michael O’Donnell, Shane Mullane, Vincent Stanton, Brian O’Rourke, Tommy O’Brien, Shane Aldridge, Michael Lane, Donal Deady, Jason Kelly, David O’Dea, Darragh O’Connor, Michael Cotter, Shane Finucane, David Broderick, Adam Kelly, William Kelly, Michael O’Gorman, Trevor Ryan.
Under 12 Hurling: Our Under 12s travelled to Feenagh on Sunday morning to take part in a hurling blitz. They were drawn against the home team first and lost out to a very strong side on a 3-6 to 2-4 scoreline. Next up, they played Granagh/Ballingarry, winning by 4-6 to 1-2. Their final game was against Castletown/Ballyagran and Bruree won this by one point on a score of 4-3 to 4-2. Thanks to all the parents and mentors who travelled to Feenagh and to the host club for their hospitality. The Bruree panel was Aaron Fitzgerald, Cian McCarthy, Shane Feane, Thomas O’Dwyer, Seamus Lyons, Eoin Carey, Brian Sexton, Edward Moore, Gearoid McCarthy, Owen Carey, Dara O’Driscoll, Jack Murphy, Jack Murphy, Ciara Daly, Sean Quirke.
