BRUREE NOTES 25/4/2010

GAA

Senior Hurling: Our senior hurlers took on All-Ireland Junior champions, Blackrock, at Ballyagran on Friday night in the South championship. Blackrock dominated the opening half and Bruree trailed by seven points at the break. Bruree had to rely on freetaker, Paddy Kelly, for three of their five point first half tally with Tommy O’Brien and Michael lane chipping in with a point apiece from play. Bruree upped their game in the second half and, although they still relied on the freetaking of Paddy Kelly, they made a game out of it. Paddy scored four points from placed balls while James V. O’Brien (2), Brian O’Rourke and Tommy O’Brien contributed from play. Bruree had a number of goal chances in both halves both failed to capitalise on them leaving Blackrock 0-18 to 0-13 winners on the night. The Bruree team was Eamon Sexton, Kieran O’Rourke, John O’Brien, Vincent Stanton, Dessie Lenihan, Gerard O’Brien, Gerard O’Dea, Shane Mullane, Andrew Sexton, Tommy O’Brien, James V. O’Brien, Brian O’Rourke, Paddy Kelly, Michael Lane, Donal Deady, Stephen O’Halloran, Brendan Hogan, Chris Sexton, John Paul Murphy, Patrick Deady, Anthony O’Shea, Michael Shinny, John Deady, Morgan Lyons, David Hogan, Jimmy O’Dea.

Mackey Draw: The next Mackey Draw (Limerick GAA Development Draw) will be held at the Central Bar, Bruree, on Friday, May 7th. The draw will be held at 10.00 pm and everyone is welcome to attend. Hopefully, at least one of the prizes and maybe even the big one, will stay in the parish.
