SYMPATHY

We extend our sincere sympathy to the relatives and friends of Donie McCarthy, Athlacca South who died recently.

BRUREE GOLFING SOCIETY

All roads led to Killarney for the Pat Potter Memorial outing. The day started with showers but by the .time everyone was ready to tee off, the sun put in an appearance, ensuring a great day for all. David Keating was in the Pro Shop to welcome us, so it was nice to meet him again. We had a great turnout with 53 people playing including quite a few beginners. The beginners couldn’t have picked a more scenic golf course to play on, and they can now boast that they played the 3 Irish Open course as the outing had been changed by Killarney to the Killeen course because of work being carried out on the one we were due to play.

The winner was John Carey with 42nts and in his speech points he declared himself thrilled and honoured to have won Pat’s memorial prize and thanked everybody involved. Captain Kevin welcomed all the Potter family and made the presentation of lovely prizes of Newbridge silverware, crystal and lamps to the winners. He also thanked everybody involved in the successful running of this competition. A draw was made on the cards for spot prizes of golf accessories and wine etc. ensuring that non winners could look forward to drowning their sorrows and dancing went on till all hours to the music of the decades with D.J Brian O'Dwyer.

Winners as follows: 1st John Carey (17) 42 t, 2nd David Deady (9) 38 pts, 3rd Joe Dore (10) 37pts, 4th. Mike Sexton (17) 37 pts, Gross Tim Hickey (4) 30 pts Front 9 Trevor Barry (14) 20 pts.
